Low-Latency and Fresh Content Provision in Information-Centric Vehicular Networks

In this paper, the content service provision of information-centric vehicular networks (ICVNs) is investigated from aspect mobile edge caching, considering dynamic driving-related context information. To provide up-to-date information with low latency, two schemes are designed for cache update and delivery at roadside units (RSUs). The unit centric (RSUC) scheme decouples through bandwidth splitting, where cached items updated regularly in a round-robin manner. request adaptive (ReA) updates upon user requests certain probabilities. performance both proposed analyzed, whereby average age (AoI) latency derived closed forms. Surprisingly, AoI-latency trade-off does not always exist, frequent can degrade performances. Thus, RSUC ReA further optimized to balance AoI latency. Extensive simulations conducted on SUMO OMNeT++ simulators, results show that reduce by up 80 percent while guaranteeing freshness heavily loaded ICVNs.
